I am Lars,
and I would like to be your coach

I can be your coach.

Who I Am, Where I Live
I live in Vancouver, in an arts-oriented neighborhood that keeps me close to creativity and community. I’m a dad to an adult daughter, whom I raised as a full-time single father from the age of eight. That experience shaped my deepest understanding of the parenting relationship—the bond between a father and child, and the importance of being an active, present part of their life. Daily conversations with my daughter then, and still today, give me ongoing insight into her generation and a richer appreciation of the complexities and wonders of the world.
I’m in a long-term loving, and supportive relationship with my partner. Along the way to get here, I’ve moved through relationships in my youth, a marriage and divorce, as well as the divorce of my parents. I know firsthand the awkward transitions that come with everyone needing to reestablish their own sense of self and rebuild connections after such changes.
I’m surrounded by friends and people who know me well, who give me feedback and support. My brother lives in the United States, my mother is in Norway, and I’ve gone through the loss of a parent. Family, in all its complexity, is part of my story.
I’m also a committed ally to the 2SLGBTQ+ community. I believe that everyone deserves to be seen, respected, and supported in expressing who they are. I’m committed to continuing to learn what authentic allyship means, and to letting that learning evolve my understanding and values over time.
Like many people, I’ve changed careers and roles at work. I’ve been the young visionary, the seasoned contributor, and eventually the older professional navigating what it means to step out of a field I once led. Moving through middle age and transitions—both personal and professional—has shaped me. These experiences haven’t just happened to me; they’ve made me who I am and, I believe, a better person.
I live in the City of Vancouver, on the ancestral, traditional and unceded territory of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), sel̓íl̓witulh (Tsleil Waututh) and sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish) peoples.

A Global Lens on Change
I was born in Norway, grew up in Singapore, moved to Canada for university, and have made Vancouver my home. I’ve also lived and worked in Norway, Singapore, the Philippines, and Canada. Staying closely connected to the third-culture-kid cohort I grew up with keeps me in daily conversation with friends around the world. That international lens is part of everything I do—it reminds me that identity, belonging, and perspective are always in motion.
How I Coach: An Ontological Approach
My coaching is rooted in ontological practice—working at the level of being to open up new choices for action and new possibilities for living. I trained with the Newfield Network, and my practice is also informed by my years with Landmark Worldwide.
I’m a Certified Dreaming Room™ Facilitator, trained and mentored by Michael E. Gerber, author of The E-Myth. Working with him closely for four years shaped my understanding of how vision and purpose can be designed into the structure of our lives and organizations.
I also draw from years of working in communications for transformational leaders, family therapists, and social workers, which has given me a deep respect for confidentiality, dignity, and the need for trust. My involvement with the Rhizome Network connects me to others exploring systems, culture, and meaning-making in today’s world.
Who I Am For
With my experience and training, I am well suited to work in a coaching capacity with anyone. And I am especially drawn to work with the following:
- Adults in midlife navigating career shifts, marriage, family, divorce, dating, relationships, parenting, and purpose.
- Young adults (19+) sorting identity, communication, and direction while seeking a trusted adult presence.
- Parents of youth and adults who are seeking to maintain a foundation of love and understanding as they navigate complex emotions and changing attitudes while seeking new roles as individuals and family.
- Leaders, managers, and team members facing change, growth, or relational challenges at work.
- Entrepreneurs, solopreneurs, and freelancers balancing vision, identity, and sustainability in their work, especially in a dynamic economic and tech environment.
How I Work
My style is non-directive, respectful, and insight-driven. Sessions are held on Zoom and grounded in deep listening, considered questions, and genuine curiosity. The goal isn’t to give advice but to create the conditions where you see yourself and your possibilities more clearly.
Values I Stand By
- Presence and listening. To be heard deeply is to discover yourself.
- Clarity and honesty. Say the real thing, simply.
- Respect and dignity. Every story is complex, every person is whole.
- Global perspective. My life has spanned cultures, and I carry that lens into every conversation.
