Coaching is one approach used when individuals want to develop their skills or performance or to grow in a wider sense of the world. It is more future oriented and may delve into areas such as the past, culture, personal upbringing etc to explore the possible reasons on why an individual acts or behave in a certain way.

Coaching focus on the individual who already has the solutions and targeted questions and techniques are used to help the individual come to their own conclusions or solutions. It is typically time bound and depends on the complexity of the issues or gaps that the individual wants to address, the relationship between the coach and coachee may last from a few weeks to a few months.

There are many types of coaching methods which can be from an ontological perspective on exploration of the being to the growth model which is a a widely used model for employee growth in the workplace.

In a typical coaching conversation, the coachee is encouraged to do the speaking most of the time with the coach listening actively and ask open or targeted questions to help the coachee gain insights of their issue or situation and how to overcome the stuckness in order to grow out of it.
